rzmie's Guide to download anime using IRC

Most of you have download anime or any other movie series using Bittorrent and Kazaa. Now, there are lots of documentation out there that tell you how to download anime using bittorrent and lots of sites too. What about downloading anime using IRC? Nobody tell you, right? And most of you will blank (including me) as soon as you got into the channel. So, boys and girls, let me teach you how to download anime using IRC.

First, we need to know a few server that are active. You can find it at animesuki or at the group site. But never fear. I will not let you find the group by yourself. There are several irc servers that hosted this group. Among the most popular ones are rizon and chatspike. There are several more but because I'm not downloading much anime there, so I will not mention it here.

Rizon server hosted AnimeONE (#animeone), Anime-Keep (#anime-keep), Anime-Kraze(#anime-kraze), Yesy (#yesy), ANBU (#anbudom) and several independent channels like Point-blank (#point-blank). The most popular anime group at Chatspike is Anime Empire (#anime-empire).

Let's say you want to download Naruto from AnimeONE group's channel. So, what you going to do. Really easy.

First, get yourself an IRC client whether mIRC, or XChat. Then, go to Rizon server. They will do several checking like this.

Not to worry. Wait for them to finish.

You need to register your nick first. To register your nick, you need to type

/nickserv register your_password your_email

Don't use rzmie as your nickname because both at rizon and chatspike those nickname belong to me. To me. ;)

They will give you an e-mail to confirm your nickname. So, don't give unvalid e-mail address. You will see later why you need to register your nick.

After you confirm your nick and etc2 we will proceed to the channel. Only two, I repeat two groups offer Naruto anime. The first one is AnimeOne (yeah, my fav group) and the second is Dattebayo. Both can be reached at #animeone and #db. You can join them by typing /join command.

At #animeone channel you can see several bots ready to serve you but I need to remind you some of the bots are not getting latest release from the group. Only 1 bot are reliable enough at #animeone channel. The bot is known as A|Distro. Oh, before that, don't use xdcc list command towards the bots. Some of it will kick and ban you from the channel for a while. :)

The packlist : How can I know what the releases contain in each bot
Every group has a website (or several websites) that will list releases contain in each bot in the group. You need to find it by yourself. Sorry. I really want to help. But I cannot. Only people who go to the IRC knows where to find the bot's packlist. You need to open your eyes and look properly. You will find it. Don't worry.

Let's continue. So, after searching for several minutes, you know Naruto episode 144 is listed at pack #240. So, without further delay, you get the pack by typing

/msg A|Distro xdcc send #240

Sometimes you have to wait for several minutes (or hours) before you can download the episode. Patient. Because there are other people who also want to download the release. Then, a window will be pop-up and you need to click "Ok". Then, your download will progress. Wait until it finish and you can watch it.

The independent channel
The independent channel such as point-blank has several independent bots that will serve your craze towards anime such as Canti-sama, Roboto-san, and etc. Some bots will exist only for a few days, a few hours or a few weeks depending on the income, and other reasons. Independent channel is not translating or subbing anime on their own. They just share what other groups done in the first place. And most of them will not archive the anime series. They just share the latest ones released by the fansubs.

My advice
When you go to the chatroom, please do this :

• Be polite. Don't be rude at other people place.


• Read rules first before downloading any anime. It's to make sure you are not kick out from the room. To read rules, type !rules.


• Don't ask when the fansub will release other episode. It's consider the most rude thing in the entire anime galaxy. You will be banned permanently. :)


• Don't be stupid. Search first before asking.
