Welcome to School of Computer Science

Year by year, new students keep coming and year by year I keep telling them that they will learn something new, fun and really exciting and sometimes hard enough to make you shed your tears. But not all believe me. The hard thing is that certain lecturers had put notion into the junior's mind that seniors cannot be trusted. Yes, certain seniors but not THIS senior. Gladly a few junior really took my advice. And gladly they are not fail (yet) their papers. Really glad for that.

When you come to Computer Sciences world and take Computer Sciences especially programming, please bear in mind that you are learning something abstract. A concept. It's not easy to teach Computer Sciences subject (especially programming) but it hard when lecturers failed to mention that Computer Science is a broad field. Networking, programming, hardware and etc. Not mentioning programming languages that one need to know. Because of that failure, students think that C is different from C++. Perl is different from C. Yeah, I admit it different but not much. Have you ever write if/else statement in C, C++, Java, Perl, VBScript and etc? Tell me what is the different? It is the syntax? Or the if/else concept? In this area, lecturers failed to explain to students and students failed to discover it by themselves.

So, if there are juniors reading my blog (except my beloved, of course), welcome to School of Computer Sciences where you will learn all kind of new (and not new), fun and exciting things. Don't surrender. Don't retreat. Go on. Shed your tears day and night but don't give up the fight. Trust me on this. Most of your friends will take advantages of you. Some will copy your assignment. Some will disturb you at night just because they want you to explain the while concept. Yes, this 3 years will be fun or hard for you. Choose which one you want. Good luck, young padawan. You are on your own now. There are no Jedi Masters to guide you. Until then, we will wait 3 years later to see which one of you fail in this battle.
